New Next store opens at the Peacocks
Leading UK fashion retailer Next doubled its presence at Peacocks Shopping Centre in Woking. Next has acquired the former Woolworth’s store at the centre and will upsize to a 17,500 sq.ft. The store opened on Thursday September 24th 2009 on the Bandstand Mall level of the Centre.

Next had previously traded from two stores totaling 8,000 sq.ft, comprising ladieswear, menswear and childrens’ fashions, the new store will more than double the retailer’s presence at Peacocks. “We are pleased to have had this opportunity to expand our ranges and get our products back under one roof again, rather than have two separate stores. I am sure this will be appreciated by our customers.” says a Next spokesperson.
The Leader of Woking Borough Council’s Executive, Councillor John Kingsbury, said, “This is really great news for Woking and I am sure it will give others the confidence to also invest in the town. The Council is doing all it can to boost the local economy and, by working with forward thinking partners like the owners of the Peacocks, real results such as this can be achieved.”
Owned by Northern Irish property development and investment company Moyallen, Peacocks is an extremely successful centre with an average footfall of 170,000 per week and a catchment of 661,000. “Next has always traded particularly well at Peacocks so it is great to see them increasing their space significantly and it demonstrates the confidence that Next has in the success of our centre. The new store broadens their product offer and will be a great draw for shoppers from Woking and surrounding areas.” says Peter Robinson, Director of Moyallen.
